Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has revealed how he once attempted to distract England team-mate Frank Lampard with mind-games before a penalty
Jude Bellingham made headlines earlier this week after controversially ‘trash-talking’ England captain Harry Kane prior to his Three Lions team-mate taking a penalty in the Champions League semi-finals.
Later in the mixed zone, Kane added: "In the moment, I didn't know what he said but I spoke to him after and he said: 'I know you're going to go left of the keeper'. And this includes Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher, who has revealed he once tried similar tactics on England team-mate Frank Lampard at Anfield back in 2005.
Lampard opened the scoring from the penalty spot following a reckless challenge from Djimi Traore on Didier Drogba. And while Steven Gerrard would equalise minutes later, Damien Duff restored Chelsea’s lead just before half-time before second-half strikes from Joe Cole and Geremi sealed a convincing win.
