Superintendent Andrew Massingham said the accused allegedly hid a large knife under his clothes when found near the scene.

The case against a 17-year-old boy, charged with the murder of a man found stabbed along a busy road in Wilston after midnight on Sunday, has been heard in court.

Police questioned and later charged the teenager after he was seen running near where the 43-year-old died, allegedly concealing a large knife beneath his clothing. The teenager’s case was mentioned Childrens Court in Brisbane on Monday, where acting magistrate Leanne Scoines remanded him in custody. Police said they intercepted the teenager, who allegedly had what Superintendent Andrew Massingham described as a small machete concealed in a sheath.

The Wilston man’s body was found across from the train station on Newmarket Road about 1.50am, with police believing he had been in an altercation before his death.Police urged anyone who might have been driving on Newmarket Road between 11pm on Saturday and in the early hours of Sunday to come forward.Police planned to conduct an autopsy on Monday.
