The calls were made while Casey White was locked up at William Donaldson Correctional Facility in Jefferson County where he was serving a 75-year sentence on a 2015 crime spree that included trying to kill his ex-girlfriend and kidnapping her two roommates. Singleton did not say whether investigators have yet heard any conversations planning the escape. “They’re still listening to the tapes to see what was on them,’’ he said.“He was here in 2020 and that’s when he planned an escape the first time,’’ Singleton said. “Apparently, this relationship was established in 2021 when he was here.”
The couple escaped from the jail on April 29, which launched a nationwide manhunt until they were cornered during a police chase in Evansville, Indiana on May 9 where they crashed.
