Mary reaches the Emergency Department, though Dylan admits that unfortunately, there is little he can do for her – and despite there being a procedure, it would likely make little difference to Mary.
Mary is reluctant to let Jan call her daughter Lizzie, admitting that while she loves her, Lizzie will likely make her have the procedure Dylan suggested. Mary has decided that she doesn't want to have the procedure. However, Jan decides to stay on after her shift so she can contact Lizzie – and when Mary's daughter does arrive, she pushes Dylan to do more for her mother, much like Mary predicted.
