Commonwealth Bank says some customers are having problems making payments at the bank's point-of-sale terminals, while others cannot view their credit cards and loans on the bank's app or website.
As the bank's customers took to social media, the country's biggest bank on Monday confirmed it was experiencing technical problems and apologised.Credit:Customers of the bank on social media platforms listed a range of problems, including being unable to view accounts, transfer money and being unable to use their cards to make transactions at retail outlets.
A CBA spokeswoman said: “We’re aware of an issue impacting some POS [point of sale] transactions on some CBA terminals, as well as viewing cards and loans in the CommBank app and NetBank." "We’re working to fix this as soon as possible. We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience.” The bank has not provided any detail about how widespread the problem is, but it comes as usage of electronic payments has boomed in recent months, as consumers ditch cash and some businesses refuse to accept it due to the risk of spreading COVID-19.
