Police are hunting down a man who exposed himself and started masturbating in front of a woman as she waited at a rail station. British Transport Police says the woman was on her own as the ordeal unfolded near Greater Manchester.

A CCTV image has today been released, showing a man officers wish to speak to in connection with the incident. BTP says a man approached the woman shortly after midnight on Sunday, July 9, as she waited in the shelter at Warrington West railway station. The man sat next to her before getting up and exposing himself. He then began to masturbate, and stopped when the woman shouted at him, BTP says. The man then left the scene. Officers are urging anyone who recognises the man, or has information about the incident, to come forward as soon as possible.

BTP can be contacted by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 219 of July 9. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
