It's the latest in a long line of charges the club have faced for fan behaviour, banners and pyrotechnics.
Celtic are facing yet more UEFA sanctions as the governing body consider action after the setting off of fireworks and use of 'illicit banners' during their clash with Lazio.
Pyro was seen in the home end during the Champions League clash while a huge 'anti-fascist' banner was unveiled by the Green Brigade before kick-off. And now it's been confirmed UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body are considering charges after a case was opened against the Scottish Premiership champions.
It's the latest in a long line of sanctions Celtic have faced from UEFA for banners and fan behaviour. They were fined £12,901 back in 2019 for banners unfurled during their last clash with Lazio which included a depiction of Benito Mussolini hanging with the slogan 'follow your leader'. It comes just weeks after they were fined £23,000 for the use of pyrotechnics in their away game with Feyenoord in Rotterdam.
The new charges relate to Uefa article 16.2.e which states: "The use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit a provocative message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly provocative messages that are of a political, ideological, religious or offensive nature." Celtic pleaded with their fans before the Lazio game to hold fire with pyro but their plea fell on deaf ears.
