A Lancaster County woman lured her husband to a local bank on Valentine’s Day last year and methodically shot him five times, a jury decided this week.Mitchell Bewley, 27, on Feb. 14, 2021.
Danielle Bewley met Mitchell Bewley around 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14, 2021, at a PNC Bank at 21 N. Decatur St. in Strasburg, prosecutors said. Pennsylvania State Police arrived at the Bewleys’ home on the 100 block of Locust Lane in East Drumore Township about 15 minutes after the shooting, according to the affidavit. A light turned on and off inside, and they could hear a woman’s voice, the court documents said.
Prosecutors presented evidence at trial showing Danielle Bewley had confessed to killing her husband to friends and family, claiming, “He got what he deserved.”The jury’s first-degree murder verdict shut down the defense’s argument that Danielle Bewley’s “mental health and prior victimization” caused her to fear for her life and kill her husband, and warranted only a third-degree or manslaughter conviction.
