“Central has been like a rabbit warren but this will open it up, so come 2023 this is going to be a very different station,” he said.The roof, which was manufactured and pre-assembled in Kurri Kurri, north of Sydney, will extend from platform 8 to 16, with diamond-shaped openings filtering light into the station.

A new landmark is taking shape above Central Station, with a feature roof going up as part of the Sydney Metro construction works. Tunnelling between Sydenham to Chatswood is complete, with the track slab being laid ahead of rail being installed next year, Mr Constance said.
