, the Starr Piano Co. was founded in 1872 and made some of the best pianos in the country. Starr produced 50 different styles of piano, including baby grands like the one at Bible Baptist.According to pastor Perez, the church owned the piano at least since 2002 when he arrived. Beyond that, he has no idea of its provenance.
To an unschooled observer, the piano appears to be in good shape, its brown, hardwood body scuffed a bit here and there, and in need of a good sanding and refinishing. But all the keys are in place, none are cracked or missing, and despite an errant lollipop stick beneath the lid, it was obviously well cared for.
