BREAKING: A high-level meeting is now underway where Prime Minister Scott Morrison has conceded Australia faces a major challenge ahead of Omicron cases peaking.

Speaking on a call with seniors ministers and top department officials, Mr Morrison said keeping the country and the vaccine booster program “rolling” was key to ensuring the supply chains remained in tact.

The government is quickly trying to define what can be deemed an “essential” worker so they can have reduced isolation requirements if they are close contacts and asymptomatic. “The challenge of Covid with escalating cases is keeping things moving, that’s what riding this wave of Covid means,” the Prime Minister said on Wednesday.“This will have an obvious impact right across our supply chains,” he said.“And that of course has impacts and it is important we continue to problem solve right across all of these areas, be it in transport, health care, aged care as we’ve already been doing.
