Go the green and gold! 🙌🥇 Australian athletes are continuing to dominate in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, pushing the nation's medal tally up to a whopping 123. 9News LATEST:
Ian Thorpe says Kyle Chalmers could have been impacted in the final stages of Australia's shock loss to England in the men's 100m medley relay final because he was breathing on the side looking away from race leader Tom Dean, similar to his performance in the individual 100m freestyle final in Tokyo.
Chalmers swam more than 0.5 seconds quicker than Dean in the final portion of the race, even though he entered the water 0.56 seconds behind, after England's James Wilby gave the hosts a half-a-body length lead at the halfway mark. Thorpe said Chalmers may have been blind as he went into the wall, unable to see Dean, much like his showing at the Tokyo Olympics.
