After a man arrived with a 'suspicious illness' at a Baytown hospital, a grand jury indicted his wife in connection with his death.
A grand jury indicted a woman for murder after her husband died at a hospital under what officials are calling unusual circumstances.
A Chambers County grand jury has indicted Sarah Jean Hartsfield, 48, of Beach City, on one count of murder in connection with the death of Joseph Hartsfield, officials said. Her bond is set at $5 million.Deputies around 6:30 p.m. Jan. 7 responded to a call from a Baytown hospital about a patient who had arrived with a suspicious illness, officials said. Deputies began an investigation because of inconsistencies the hospital staff noticed.
Joseph Hartsfield, 46, later died from his illness, and investigators say it is because of foul play, officials said. His obituary claims he died Jan. 15 from an ischemic stroke. He married his wife less than a year earlier, according to the obituary.
