Pep Guardiola’s side have been drawn in a favourable group - which also includes German side RB Leipzig and Swiss champions Young Boys - and will be expected to breeze through to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag successfully guided United back to the Champions League and his side will begin with a trip to Bayern Munich on Wednesday .
The Reds will be confident of earning a place in the knockout stages, having also been drawn with Copenhagen and Galatasaray. However, the club may hope to have qualification sewn up ahead of their final group game, when United host Bayern at Old Trafford.
