It was the heart-stopping moment that saw Channel 7 star Abbey Holmes face near-death on SAS Australia. During Tuesday night’s episode, the AFL field commentator and former AFL Women’s player faced her extreme fear of heights during a challenge with rugby star Mahalia Murphy.
Channel 7 star’s brush with death caught on camera The challenge saw Holmes let herself fall backwards off the side of a cliff, leaving Murphy to act as the “brake man” from the ground below. This meant Murphy had to hold a rope that was attached to Holmes, controlling it to guide her teammate to safety. “The brake man, they have your life in their hands. If the brake man gets it wrong, you’re dead,” SAS Chief Instructor Ant Middleton said going into the challenge.
