Channing Tatum and Dr. Kong on the red carpet at KultureBall 2022Actor, director, and recent children’s book author Channing Tatum was named the advocate of the year at the annual KultureBall fundraiser for Birmingham-based nonprofit KultureCity this past weekend.
Tatum said that although he had never really attached his name to a nonprofit before, he could see that KultureCity was special and that he was happy to be a part of it. Their most recent projects included opening three sensory rooms around the city earlier this year: one at Protective Life Stadium and two at the BJCC to provide accessible areas for those with autism and other sensory issues to decompress in a private setting and receive sensory bags at the World Games.
The organization also honored five other individuals and organizations during their awards ceremony “for their work and advocacy in the disability community.”· Never of the year moment – Carnival Cruise Line 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate Andrew Yang, who has spoken openly about his family’s experiences with sensory issues after the birth of their son Christopher, spoke at the event about the importance of the Maha’s focus on inclusion.
