At least one US Marshal is dead and “numerous” other law enforcement officials have been wounded after gunfire erupted on Monday in North Carolina .just before 2pm when the US Marshals Task Force was working an investigation in the area and one of the subjects opened fire on them, according to the Charlotte - Mecklenburg Police Department .“Multiple” officers were hit and taken to the hospital in unknown conditions, CMPD said.
“This is an active investigation, if you are in the area, please remain in your residence or steer clear of the scene,” CMPD said.SWAT teams from the department have been dispatched to the scene, cops said, while numerous roads in the area have been closed to allow law enforcement vehicles in and out.
