Travellers flying in and out of Sydney ahead of the school holidays are facing lengthy delays after airlines cancelled more than a dozen flights.
Large crowds of holidaymakers have been left stranded, with their school holiday plans in limbo, after Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar axed flights in and out of the major airport.Airport officials warned the situation will remain ongoing throughout the day and more flights are expected to be affected.

Picture: Jeremy Piper A Sydney Airport spokesperson said single runway operations are in place due to the strong weather conditions. “As a result, there are some flight delays and cancellations. Airlines are working hard to re-accommodate passengers and get them on their way,” the spokesperson said.
“If passengers have questions regarding the status of their flight, we encourage them to contact their airline.”
