COSTA MESA — Exhibition games are one opportunity for NFL players to take out their training camp aggressions on opposing teams. By any measure, the Chargers’ exhibition opener Saturday against the Rams was a rousing success, especially when judged byJoint practices are another chance.

Thursday and Friday, the Chargers’ starters will get their chance to turn up the intensity and the physicality during their joint practices with the Saints. With rare exceptions, it’ll be their only chance until the regular season begins in a little less than a month. Starters rarely play in exhibition games.

“The guy is working hard,” Ansley said. “I think this is the most reps he’s gotten since we started. He’s feeling good. He’s going to take it day-by-day. He’s in a good place physically. He’s going to try to maximize each day. Everything is slowing down for him. Last year, everything was brand new for him.”during the Chargers’ loss Oct. 23 to the Seattle Seahawks and underwent season-ending surgery several days later.
