Emergency warnings are in place for fires burning near Dalveen, The Glen, Silverwood, Cherry Gully and the Atherton Tablelands near Cairns in QLD. NRL stars Jack Wighton and Latrell Mitchell have spoken outside a Canberra court, thanking those who supported them over the past 10 months, after all charges against the pair were dismissed.
ACT Attorney-General Shane Rattenbury said the case was "obviously really concerning," but stopped short of announcing a review. "It will now be a matter for ACT Policing to reflect on how the case was constructed. I think there are issues that will need to be reflected on later." Speaking outside court today, Mr Wighton thanked the Canberra Raiders for supporting him throughout the ordeal."I've spent so long with this club, and in this town, and to have this support is massive."
"These charges have also weighed heavily on both players over the past eight to nine months. They have shown great courage and resilience in fighting to prove the charges laid were false and unwarranted.""Through the last 10 months, it has been very hard, not only for myself but for my family, with what they've had to read and endure. a traumatic experience," he said.
