A 51-year-old Illawarra man is in a critical condition after he was allegedly set on fire on Saturday afternoon. Charges have been laid against a 42-year-old man allegedly responsible for the horrific attack. 7NEWS
It is unclear if the man was inside the car when it burst into flames.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and flown to Royal North Shore Hospital where he remains in critical condition. A crime scene was established and forensically examined, and detectives assisted by the Arsons Unit have begun an investigation.He was taken from Saddleback mountain to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with throwing/laying an explosive or other substance with the intent to burn/maim/disable/do grievous bodily harm.He was refused bail and will appear at Wollongong Local Court on Monday.
