Clemente Vazquez-Pacheco was struck in the head by a large rock Aug. 12 in Bridgeton.
A Bridgeton resident is now charged with manslaughter after the man he was accused of assaulting last month died of his injuries.
The 35-year-old Bridgeton man, later identified as Clemente Vazquez-Pacheco, showed no outward signs of injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. He was diagnosed with a brain bleed and taken to Cooper University Hospital in critical condition. Julio Morales-Amilcar, 25, of Bridgeton, threw a large rock, striking Vazquez-Pacheco in the head and causing him to fall to the ground, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in the case. Morales-Amilcar then punched and kicked Vazquez-Pacheco while he was on the ground, police said.
