Two charity volunteers, including one elderly man, handing out food to the disadvantaged at the weekend were allegedly brutally bashed in a shocking attack in Adelaide’s north. 7NEWS

The incident began about 7.30am on Saturday morning when a woman allegedly became aggressive towards a taxi driver who pulled over in Fremont Park, Elizabeth Park where volunteers from Cos We Care were handing out food.Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free onThe woman, and several others, then allegedly began attacking the charity group, hitting a 46-year-old woman in the head with a pool cue as she tried to defend a client who was being kicked and punched.

“I thought it was sort of dissipating and stopping which is why I then turned my attention to the client, and that’s when I was hit,” the volunteer told 7NEWS.One volunteer who was attacked suffered fractured ribs, fingers and nose.Following the incident, the woman was taken to Lyell McEwin Hospital.
