The average price for a litre of petrol across the Merseyside region this week is 145.3p
The cheapest place in Merseyside to fill up your car with petrol is at a Sainsbury's garage in Liverpool .
This is based on a feed of live petrol prices which was set up by the government's Competition and Markets Authority last September. Dan Turnbull, Senior Director of Markets at the CMA, said: “Drivers are feeling the pinch as fuel prices have been edging up since January. We’re particularly concerned by high margins which indicate weakened competition and are not a good sign for drivers." The most expensive filling station in Merseyside is an Esso station at College Road, Sefton. The cost of standard petrol at this station is 149.9p, meaning it would cost a total of £82.45 to fill up an average family car at this forecourt.
