For the first time, the library had more than 3 million digital books checked out 📚

Last year, for the first time, the library surpassed 3 million digital checkouts. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Cuyahoga County Public Library, with 27 branches serving 47 communities in Northeast Ohio, wrote a new chapter in 2022 in its mission to reach more readers.
The milestone ranks the library 19th among all stand-alone libraries and one of 129 worldwide to surpass the 1 million mark, according to Cleveland-based Overdrive, which services more than 88,000 libraries and schools in 109 countries.That puts CCPL in some good company, joining institutions in Brooklyn, N.Y.; Boston; and San Francisco, as well as Auckland, New Zealand.
The library has offered e-books since 2004 and had seen an increased demand that exploded during the pandemic, Booth said. You can check out a book at 5 a.m. while you’re having your morning coffee, on the way to work or at the gym, Booth said.For older users with vision issues, a digital device allows you to increase the font size, eliminating the need to carry a bulky large-print book, Rua said.Getting the word out to patrons about the availability of digital items was important, Rua noted.
