The Franklin County auditor reminded consumers to remain vigilant when shopping at Dollar General after area stores again failed price inspections.
Dollar General shoppers should pay close attention to the price tags listed on shelves, advertisements and products and what they're charged at the register, according to Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano.
Among the examples of incorrect scanner prices identified by inspectors included items like Goldfish crackers that should be $3.75 scanned at $4.50; Dove toiletries that should have been $7 scanned in at $8; Officehub items that should be $6 scanned at $8; and DG Health electrolyte solutions that should cost $3.75 scanned at $4.50.5001 Chatterton Rd., Truro Township3170 Lambert Rd.
Dollar General, which is based in Tennessee, did not respond to messages left by The Dispatch about the latest inspection results. The attorney general also reported receiving a dozen complaints about similar bait advertising and deceptive practices by Dollar General between March 2021 and August 2022 from consumers in Franklin, Cuyahoga, Highland, Lucas, Madison, Richland, Summit and Trumbull counties.
