Mauricio Pochettino handed Nicolas Jackson a new role against Aston Villa in the FA Cup – and fans were shocked by what they saw
Chelsea fans were amazed by how effective Nicolas Jackson performed on the left wing in their victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday night . The Blues responded to their 4-2 humiliation against Wolves in the Premier League with an emphatic 3-1 triumph over Unai Emery’s side to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Conor Gallagher opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Jackson bagged a well-timed headed effort later in the first half, but Enzo Fernandez’ spectacular free kick was the pick of the bunch for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.Jackson has been most frequently fielded as a centre-forward this season, but after his exceptional display at Villa Park, fans are clamouring for him to play as a winger from here on out.
Supporters have taken to social media to react to Pochettino’s “tactical masterclass”, and many feel that the likes of Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk need to be dropped for the Senegal international. This is where he’s supposed to be developing not playing as a center forward…..he’s not a striker!!Poch putting him on the wing and having less pressure than being the main target man was very smart decisionJackson doing a better job on the left wing than Sterling….
