As interim chief executive, he is expected to work the equivalent of three days a week, and agency fees mean the cost to Cheshire East Council will actually be £1,380 a day plus VAT. "The cost would be in the region of £91,000 if the appointment ran from mid-October 2023 to March 31 2024," a council report said.Cheshire East Council is currently recruiting for a permanent boss who will be on a salary of between £170,000 and £190,000 a year.

Mr Parr's interim leadership would help the council seize new opportunities and meet the challenges ahead, Labour council leader Sam Corcoran said.
