Chewy opened the facility in 2014 and it was expanded to 602,000 square feet in 2015.
A spokesperson confirmed the closing to PennLive on Thursday morning.
Pelkey said the company isn’t decreasing its workforce and employees will be given the opportunity to transfer to another fulfillment center. Over the years, that warehouse has relied on the Harrisburg area for filling positions so much that it subsidized a Capital Area Transit bus route from Harrisburg and even opened a recruiting office in Swatara Township.
The company announced its financial results on Thursday with net sales of $10.1 billion, an increase of 13.6 percent year over year. The company employs more than 20,000 people and has more than nine million square feet of warehouse space.
