With the status of starting cornerbacks Jaylon Johnson and Tyrique Stevenson uncertain after they left Sunday’s loss at Kansas City, the Chicago Bears have added depth. The Bears signed cornerback Joejuan Williams off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad Wednesday, adding help on the back end as questions loom about the starters’ availability. In addition to Johnson and Stevenson, nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon is on injured reserve for at least two more games with a broken right hand.Johnson left the 41-10 loss to the Chiefs with a hamstring injury. The Bears announced Stevenson, the rookie second-round pick, was out with an illness.
Free safety Eddie Jackson sat out all last week with a foot injury, and it’s possible the Bears will have to continue shuffling in the secondary before Sunday’s battle of 0-3 teams with the Denver Broncos at Soldier Field. The Bears are unlikely to share any information until the first injury report is due Wednesday afternoon.
