A Chicago police officer was transported to an area hospital Friday night after an exchange of gunfire occurred on Lake Shore Drive.
Chicago's Civilian Office of Police Accountability said they are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred just after 8 p.m. near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and South Lake Shore Drive.
Officers saw a vehicle wanted in connection to an aggravated battery of a police officer earlier this month and pulled the driver over. After pulling over in the 1100 block of South Lake Shore Drive, the driver reversed the vehicle and struck an officer approaching on foot.SUBSCRIBE TO FOX 32 ON YOUTUBE
The car came to a stop in the 7200 block of S. Vincennes. The occupants fled on foot and were quickly apprehended. A weapon was recovered. The officer struck by the vehicle was transported to a local hospital and is listed in good condition with a broken leg. There were no further injuries reported.The officer involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a period of 30 days.that I have read and agree
