Afternoon breezes forecast for Tuesday likely will contribute to high waves and create unsafe swimming conditions in southern Lake Michigan, according to the weather service. The expectation of 20 to 25 mph winds prompted a warning about dangerous swimming conditions. Northeast winds gusting to 20 to 25 mph late this afternoon into this evening will build waves along southern Lake Michigan beaches and develop dangerous rip currents along the shores indicated in red on the inset map.
