Investigations are underway after a child was allegedly found in a “cage” at a worksite in the NT. NT WorkSafe told 7 NEWS .com.au it had received a safety concern from NT Police on May 16. Police received reports that a child had allegedly been “secured in inappropriate conditions” at the site. According to the NT News , the child is between two and three years old. The child was allegedly put in a custom-made enclosure that witnesses described as a “cage”.
“NT WorkSafe Inspectors have commenced an inquiry,” NT WorkSafe said. The Department of Territory Families, Housing and Communities confirmed it was also investigating the matter. A spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au it takes “any allegation of child harm” seriously. “In the Northern Territory, you must report your concerns if you believe a child is being, or has been, harmed or abused, this includes police who can report suspected harm to our department,” the spokesperson said.
