The Stephen King adaptations unfold in this order.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Since the Children of the Corn franchise has a huge number of entries, it can be a little tricky for newcomers to work out what order the Stephen King series takes place in. The Children of the Corn franchise began back in 1984 with the original Children of the Corn, an adaptation of King’s short story of the same name from his debut collection Night Shift.

The Best Order To Watch The Children of the Corn Movies While 2023’s Children of the Corn prequel was repeatedly delayed, its eventual release revealed that the film isn't even a straightforward backstory for the 1984 movie after all. Instead, 2023’s Children of the Corn changes a few pivotal elements, relocating the action to Rylstone and renaming the monster as “He Who Walks.” Still, this late addition to the series does provide context for anyone new to the franchise.

Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest relocates two of the original movie’s cult members to the city, where their adoption precedes a string of gruesome accidents. Notably, this sequel finally visually depicts He Who Walks Among the Rows in all its glory. This, alongside the city setting, makes this Children of the Corn sequel worth a watch. However, viewers should not expect too much connective tissue between this sequel and earlier movies in the series.

As the title implies, Children of the Corn 666: Isaac’s Return brings back John Franklin as the original movie’s villain, Isaac. This strengthens the sequel’s connection to the 1984 original as Isaac’s daughter seeks out her father and gets more than she bargained for. While Franklin is as fun as ever, this sequel’s main appeal lies in finally finding out what happened to the original movie’s antagonist after years of semi-related sequels.
