Disturbing CCTV footage has been released showing an armed masked man wandering through a family home during a car theft spree in Sydney's north-west.

Strike Force Sweetenham is looking into the incidents which happened in the suburbs of Ryde, Carlingford, Epping, Castle Hill and Cherrybrook. The next three alleged break and enters - on Willoughby St in Epping, Murray War in Castle Hill and Purchase Road in Cherrybrook - were carried out on October 20.The man wearing grey track pants and a black hooded jumper. Picture: NSW PolicePolice alleged the homes were broken into while families were inside sleeping.Residents inside were not woken or injured, but realised a robbery had taken place at daylight.
