The Chinese government confirmed today it has reached a preliminary trade deal with the U.S.
The announcement was made by a Chinese government official in Beijing during a press conference.
"The U.S. side will fulfill its commitments of removing tariffs on Chinese products phase by phase, reversing the trend of tariff hikes,"The two sides have agreed to complete as quickly as possible the legal review" working out arrangements for official signing of the agreement, which includes nine sections, the official said.However, in response to a question, the official did not confirm that China would buy $50 billion worth of U.S.
