China has doubled down on its ambitious four demands of the Australian government after Anthony Albanese rejected Beijing’s initial urgings.
In a carefully constructed response to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s rejection of its four demands, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said it was willing to “recalibrate” ties so long as Australia met its requests.

Picture: Getty Images Following Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong’s meeting with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Bali last week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry urged Canberra to"seize the opportunity" to repair the soured relationship.
In a veiled swipe at Australia’s relationship with the United States, China said Canberra needed to refrain from targeting any other nation or “being controlled by any third party”.
