China ends three days of military drills after forming a temporary 'blockade' of Taiwan and simulating missile strikes
Called"Joint Sword," the operation"comprehensively tested the integrated joint combat ability of multiple military branches under actual combat conditions," according to the People's Liberation Army's Eastern Command. According to Chinese state television, the exercises involved simulating strikes on Taiwan, as well as practicing"sealing" the island off and using aircraft to form an"aerial blockade."
