China has hit back at the United States for signing a new human rights bill showing support for protesters in Hong Kong.
Beijing announced it will block American ships from their Hong Kong base and impose sanctions on several non-governmental groups.
A Chinese spokeswoman denounced the signing of the legislation, labelling it an interference in domestic affairs. Beijing said it will take further steps if necessary to uphold stability and prosperity in the city and China's sovereignty. Image: AP
