Following the East Asia Summit in Cambodia, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said his country was ready to meet Australia 'half way' after he spoke with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese - who is set to meet with President Xi Jinping on Tuesday.

Premier Li met with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on the sidelines of the East Asia Summit in Cambodia on Saturday where more than a dozen world leaders were in attendance.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang says his country is ready to meet Australia"half way" following more than two years of crippling trade sanctions. "Taking office as the prime minister of the new Labor government, you expressed Australia's readiness to work with China to bring the bilateral relationship back on track," Premier Li said, according to Xinhua.

The 50th anniversary next month marks the establishment of bilateral relations between China and Australia.
