China has delivered a stark warning for countries securing borders against Chinese travellers as 90 per cent of its third largest province is struck down by COVID-19.
Australia, the United States and the United Kingdom were among many to have reinstated COVID testing restrictions for Chinese travellers as Beijing removed its zero-COVID policy and reopened its Hong Kong border on Sunday – after almost three years of strict lockdown.
“We once again call on all parties to make sure that their COVID response measures are fact-based, science-based and proportionate and avoid politicising COVID.” Following major protests across the country in December, the communist government reversed its harsh pandemic restrictions which forced COVID positive people into state-run isolation camps.
