McKeon was speechless at the end of the race, while Campbell – who won the bronze medal – needed to compose herself as she broke down with emotion during her post-race interview.McKeon made the turn just 0.02 seconds clear of Haughey, but she extended that lead to be a full stroke in front with 20m to swim.She touched the wall 0.3 seconds ahead of Haughey and 0.5 seconds ahead of Campbell, who was all class in winning the bronze.
