, there was chatter on set; an untitled, semi-autobiographical Steven Spielberg film was being cast, and her peers were beginning to audition. She herself hadn’t been called; she assumed there wasn’t a role in the project that would be a good fit.
You are a young actress on the rise, and you now have this part in a Steven Spielberg movie, which is such a big deal. How did this part came to you?, the HBO show I did. Working on that, I heard buzz like, "Oh, so-and-so has an audition for a young Steven Spielberg," or, "Oh, I got an audition." I thought, "Wow, that is awesome. That is super cool. Didn't get that audition, but good for you.” Months went by.
I was so nervous, but after that moment, all of my fear, all of my anxiety, this kind of pent-up excitement to work with him just went away. I realized in that moment how humble and down to earth he was. Honestly, it was just little things Steven would say to us. There was no fluff. He gave very concise notes when we were shooting, and you'd go, "Okay, that's why you're the best director in the world." When you're working with people with no ego, no fluff or anything, you can genuinely connect to everyone. ."A really fun scene to shoot was the dinner scene. Steven actually said that dinner scenes are the hardest scenes to shoot.
