Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell says Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen “left the door open” to “new car emission standards” in Australia.
Mr Bowen addressed the National Press Club of Australia on Wednesday to discuss climate and Labor’s plan to reduce emissions to reach its target.
“Bowen said when parliament resumes in under a month now, he will be cutting tax on electric vehicles,” Mr Clennell said. “Chris Bowen spoke of a closing the gap style address to parliament on climate emissions being a requirement of the legislation. “The minister also talked of electric cars being affordable in 2030 and a realistic choice then for all Australians.”
