Chris Kenny praises Greg Hunt for calling out states and territories on COVID measures
Sky News host Chris Kenny has praised former health minister Greg Hunt for calling out how the states and territories went “their own way” on lockdowns and COVID restrictions.
“Greg Hunt … has submitted a detailed analysis to the federal government's COVID inquiry and he focused on how despite national cabinet, and despite national medical advice, the states often imposed their own restrictions, without sharing any additional reasoning,” Mr Kenny said. "Well in his submission, former health minister Greg Hunt goes into this in some detail and plenty of other issues too in pandemic management.'My strong forward recommendation is that all States and Territories adopt a uniform national code for pandemic management which mandates medical advice be published for any restrictive measures.'
“Especially given the way normal parliamentary processes and accountability were stifled during the pandemic, and especially because of the enormous powers wielded by pandemic governments, then full transparency is required.”
