The state's Opposition leader, Chris Minns spent his first day on the job celebrating Italy's Republic Day with the Italian community in Liverpool, where he spruiked Western Sydney and promised positive solutions.
"The Labor Party will make it an issue not for political reasons, but because that's what families in Western Sydney are telling us is hurting them, and they need an advocate."
"I've been clear, a 100 per cent privately owned toll road monopoly, I don't believe is in the interest of the people in NSW."After Mr Minns's leadership announcement yesterday, Ms McKay tweeted a photo of herself with her thumbs up thanking her supporters and saying she "supported" the new leader. Notwithstanding Premier Glady's Berejiklian's popularity, which Mr Minns mentioned today as a major challenge to the party's success, many members don't believe he is a unifying force.Earlier in the day, Miners Union Northern District President Peter Jordan said he wouldn't support someone who had spent years white-anting former leader Jodi McKay.
