The father of a teenage boy killed in the Christchurch mosque attacks implores the judge to send the gunman home to Australia 'where he came from'. WARNING: This story contains graphic details which may disturb some readers.
New Zealand cabinet papers show around $3.3 million has been approved to keep the gunman behind bars over the next two years.In light of this, Ahad Nabi — whose father Haji Mohemmed Daoud Nabi was killed at Al-Noor — asked the court today to consider putting the gunman "in mainstream prison".
Kris Gledhill, who is a law professor at Auckland University of Technology, said there was currently no arrangement whereby prisoners serving their time in New Zealand could be transferred to another country. "My view is that it can be done. Whether the government of the day — either in New Zealand or in Australia — wants it to be done, that at the moment is speculation.""Your actions were a gutless character of a person," he said.
"I do not forgive you. While you are in prison you will come to [the] reality that you are now in hell and only the fire awaits you."The court also heard a scathing impact statement from 25-year-old Sara Qasem.
