Melbourne has moved quickly to quieten media speculation suggesting its injured star Christian Petracca was seeking an exit from the club this summer.

Media reports this week have suggested Christian Petracca could part ways with the Melbourne Demons .In a letter to club members, Demons CEO Gary Pert said Petracca is a valuable member of the club who is integral to its future after a disappointing season.

"Christian is an integral and much-loved member of the Melbourne Football Club. He is a key pillar of our club's future, and we value him immensely, not only as a player, but as a person and a leader," Pert's letter read, in part. "He's had a really, really tough time, very traumatic experience and suffered a lot in terms of what he's gone through, but it's just great to get him back around the club."

"As we approach the end of the season, we have commenced discussions with a cross section of players, coaches and staff within our football program to discuss the improvements we need to make to return to the level we expect from our AFL program," he wrote."The 2024 season has been disappointing for us all and we must quickly turn our attention to what is required moving forward, both on and off the field, to ensure we climb back up the ladder.
