In the remote north-west Tasmanian town of Marrawah , locals are embracing their rural charm with bright and festive Christmas displays, largely made from farming materials.
"The farmers have got hay bales in their paddock to use, the farmers have got tractors, some have got boats," local Karalea Nicholls said.The tradition began in 2019, when Cheryl Willie and her granddaughter found a Santa suit buried in a cupboard, which they stuffed with hay and silage bags and put on their front verandah.
"We just decided it was so wonderful to see the old Santa sitting up on the old tractor, let's all put a Santa out the front and get the Christmas cheer happening," she said.
