ANALYSIS: Christmas is coming, but two looming threats could be catastrophic for the economy — and our health
It's a time of year where painful parts of our lives can be exacerbated — in part because there's some degree of pressure to finish up projects, party and enjoy ourselves.Right now, apart from people's daily life concerns, two overarching threats are looming large across the globe: inflation, and the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
The latest data suggests the current lift in inflation is not subsiding and, if anything, is growing. "The sustained period of cost pressures over the last three quarters, at a net 39 per cent, is the highest average level since December 2008," the report says.
